Alzheimer's Disease Research Grants
(Source: AHAF) - Alzheimer's Disease Research (ADR) has granted two awards of one million dollars each to Dr. Bradley Hyman of Massachusetts General Hospital (Boston) and Dr. Donald Weaver of Dalhousie University (Halifax, Canada).

New Treatment Possibilities for Cognitive Disorders
(Source: UC Irvine) - University of California (Irvine) researchers have identified a new class of compounds that could be used to develop drugs to treat cognitive disorders that accompany schizophrenia, Alzheimer's disease and ADHD.


Calcium and Vitamin D Associated with Brain Lesions
(Source: EurekAlert) - According to Dr. Martha Payne, elderly men and women who have consumed higher levels of calcium and vitamin D are more likely to have greater numbers of brain lesions (regions of damage that can increase risk of cognitive impairment, dementia, depression and stroke).


Seniors Unfairly Stereotyped
(Source: EurekAlert) - A University of Alberta study revealed that seniors are being stereotyped as grouchy, inflexible to change, and mostly living in nursing homes, when, in fact, it is the opposite that is true.
